1. Choose the calculation
Select a calculator whose stated purpose matches the question you need to answer. Similar terms can describe different measurements; check the calculator’s scope before entering data.
2. Enter the values that describe your process
Use current measured values, supplier data, equipment documentation, or your approved production records. Check units, whether a value is per part or per shot, and whether the calculation expects a percentage of the resin or of the finished blend. Do not enter confidential customer, employee, or production information.
3. Review the method and assumptions
The displayed result is produced from the calculator’s stated inputs, formula, unit conversions, and rounding. Some tools are direct mass balances or unit conversions; others are screening estimates with assumptions that limit how they can be used. Where a standard, equipment rating, or supplier specification is relevant, the calculator should identify its scope and any limits on interpretation.
4. Check the result against the real application
Compare the result with the press or mold manufacturer’s specifications, resin technical data, plant procedures, customer requirements, and measured production behavior as applicable. A calculated fit or capacity screen is not approval to run a process, release a part, select equipment, or certify compliance.
