Production Run Time

Estimate shots and scheduled press hours for a good-part order after yield and runtime-efficiency losses.

Example starting values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with your measured, quoted, or job-specific inputs before relying on a result.

Inputs

Inputs

Range: at least 1 parts

Enter a whole-number count; decimal values are rejected during calculation.

Range: at least 1 cavities

Enter a whole-number count; decimal values are rejected during calculation.

Range: at least 0.001 s

Use a measured steady-state full cycle time in seconds, not just cooling or screw-recovery time.

Range: 0.001–100 %

Productive molding run time ÷ scheduled run time, entered as a percent above 0 and up to 100. Exclude setup unless your plant's scheduled-time definition includes it.

Range: 0.0–100 %

Expected accepted parts ÷ attempted parts, entered as a percent above 0 and up to 100. This is distinct from runtime efficiency and should come from relevant process or order history.

Planning assumptions and limits
The shot count is rounded up to a whole cycle. Expected good parts are a statistical expectation from the entered overall yield, not a guaranteed count; actual rejects may vary by cavity and over time. Runtime efficiency is applied separately to ideal molding hours. Setup and startup shots are excluded and should be planned separately.
