Plastic-to-Hydraulic Pressure Conversion

Translate a plastic-pressure reading into its hydraulic equivalent using the machine intensification ratio.

Example starting values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with your measured, quoted, or job-specific inputs before relying on a result.

Inputs

Inputs

Range: at least 0.001 psi

Enter the melt/material pressure at the screw or nozzle reference used by the machine documentation, in psi. Do not enter hydraulic line pressure here.

Range: at least 0.001 ratio

Enter the machine-specific ratio Pplastic / Phydraulic from its manual or validated screw/piston areas. Autodesk describes 7–15 as typical only; do not use that range as a substitute for the machine value. If the manual states the inverse ratio, invert it before entering.

Result

Hydraulic Pressure (psi)
1,800.000
Ratio definition and limitation
Hydraulic pressure is the equivalent oil-side pressure under the entered machine ratio. The ratio should match the press, injection unit, and screw configuration. Conversion neglects pressure losses and does not establish the machine's maximum allowable pressure or a safe process setting; consult the OEM manual and verify which pressure the control displays.
