Press Capacity Fit Check

Make a first pass on press fit by comparing required clamp force and shot mass with machine ratings.

Example starting values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with your measured, quoted, or job-specific inputs before relying on a result.

Inputs

Inputs

Range: at least 0.001 US short tons

Enter the required clamp force from an engineering calculation or validated process data. US short tons are 2,000 lbf each. This tool does not derive the required force; use the clamp-force calculator or validated cavity-pressure data.

Range: at least 0.001 US short tons

Use the candidate press manufacturer's available rated clamping force in US short tons, not metric tonnes or a nominal model-family label.

Range: at least 0.001 lb

Enter total molded-shot mass in lb, including discharged cold-runner/sprue mass. Use the Shot Weight calculator if needed.

Range: at least 0.001 lb

Use the machine manufacturer's rated shot mass in lb on a material-equivalent basis validated for the resin. Do not compare an unadjusted reference-resin rating as if it were universal.

Scope and limitations
This preliminary screen compares only the entered clamp-force requirement and shot mass with the entered press ratings. A pass is not a machine-fit or process approval. Separately verify resin-specific shot convention, injection pressure and rate, plasticizing/recovery time, cushion, mold height and envelope, tie-bar spacing, platen dimensions, ejection, and the machine maker's limits. No universal utilization margin is applied.
