Machine Time Cost per Part

Allocate a press hourly rate across cycle time and cavities, then adjust the result for accepted yield.

Example starting values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with your measured, quoted, or job-specific inputs before relying on a result.

Inputs

Inputs

Range: at least 0 USD/h

Enter the press charge rate in USD per hour. Document whether it is a nameplate, standard, or actual chargeable rate; do not assume this tool adds downtime or overhead.

Range: at least 0.001 s

Use a measured steady-state full cycle time in seconds.

Range: at least 1 cavities

Enter producing cavities in the cycle as a whole number; decimal values are rejected.

Range: 0.0–100 %

Accepted good parts ÷ attempted parts for the same product and process scope. This converts theoretical molded-piece cost to expected cost per accepted good part; it does not model cavity-specific or time-varying scrap.

Result

Expected machine cost (USD/1,000 good parts)
156.25
Expected machine cost per good part (USD/part)
0.156
Theoretical cost per molded piece (USD/part)
0.156
Machine-cost scope and limits
Theoretical cost assumes every active cavity produces one part each cycle. Expected good-part cost divides by the entered overall yield. The result does not add setup, downtime, maintenance, energy, labor, overhead, or freight unless those are already embedded in the hourly rate; confirm the charge-rate and yield definitions before quoting.
